Social Work in West Sussex
West Sussex is home to over 780,000 people. Of these 3.3% are
over 85, 20% are 65 plus and 23% are under 19.
Our desire is to focus more of our resources on supporting
frontline workers to deliver better outcomes for residents in
need.
We know that our population is ageing. By 2026 the number of
residents that are over 85 will increase by over 50%, so both
Health and Social Care services will need to respond
positively.
Over the last two years the number of child protection cases in
West Sussex has increased dramatically. Projections show that this
trend will continue. More children need our support than ever
before.
This is where you come in…

West Sussex is home to Britain's newest National Park, the South
Downs. We have the sunniest coastline in the UK, thriving market
towns, quiet country villages as well as the commercial centres of
Crawley, Horsham and Gatwick.
West Sussex also offers a rich and diverse quality of life with
an abundance of cultural and leisure activities. All within easy
reach of London.
“I joined West Sussex because of the training, its location to
London and the coast, the starting pay for Qualified Social Workers
and the career progression available here” - Social Worker, West
Sussex County Council.
