Working with Adults
The number of adults in West Sussex who need support is growing
steadily. We already help almost 20,000 older people and adults
with disabilities or mental ill health to lead independent and
fulfilling lives. We know that we need to create more opportunities
to support and care for adults with long term conditions in their
own homes.
There are a number of initiatives underway to help us achieve
these aims. We are:
- Committed to Self Directed Support, giving vulnerable people
real choice and control over the services they receive and enabling
them to stay living at home.
- Redesigning the way services are delivered to improve the
experience of our customers, to develop more modern and efficient
working practices and to make best use of staff skills and
knowledge.
- Introducing a new "Regaining Independence Support Service" in
which Occupational Therapists, Social Work, and Social Care staff
work as a team.
- Developing the range of day activities required by individuals
and communities to replace traditional day centres.
- Implementing new systems to improve the flow of accurate
information to and from staff in the frontline.
“I joined West Sussex County Council due to the person-centred
approach of the team.
“West Sussex County Council is very forward moving with a real
focus on the personalisation agenda.” - Social Worker, West
Sussex County Council.
We want to support you, to support them.
